Augusta Elementary Kindergarten Class Makes Flag for Veterans; Receives Recognition From VFW National Headquarters

Students in Amy Brinkmann’s kindergarten class at Augusta  Elementary received a special recognition from the national headquarters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary.

The kindergarten students made an American flag where their painted hand prints represented the stars and stripes of the flag (see the picture below) and presented it to VFW members returning home from an Honor Flight trip.

Honor Flight’s mission is to transport America's veterans to Washington, DC, to visit those memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of themselves and their friends. Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices.

In turn, the kindergarten class at Augusta Elementary received a framed letter and a certificate (see pictures) below from the VFW National Headquarters thanking them for the flag and supporting the veterans.

The certificate and the letter, framed separately, will be displayed in the trophy case at Augusta Elementary.

See the photos below of Brinkmann’s kindergarten class at Augusta, along with the American flag they made for the Veterans and the framed letter and certificate they received from the VFW National Headquarters.
