Augusta Elementary second-grade student Elijah Mathes was the “Principal of the Day” at the school on Friday, Jan. 19.

Elijah’s mother made it possible by purchasing the title during Augusta Elementary’s PTO Dinner Auction.

Decked in his dress shirt and pants with a neck tie on, and equipped with a two-way radio for communication purposes secured to his belt, Elijah stayed busy by observing different classrooms during the day, supervising lunch, passing out supplies, giving away complement cards to students, and on a couple of occasions, asking students to put away their cell phones.

See the pictures below of second-grade student Elijah Mathes, including ones with Augusta Elementary Principal Mary Robertson.

Augusta Elementary held its S.T.A.R.T. (Substance Tobacco Alcohol Resistance Training) Graduation ceremony on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 11.

Students in Lisa Nadler’s sixth-grade class completed the drug awareness program and were recognized for their accomplishments.

S.T.A.R.T is a comprehensive educational program developed by the St. Charles County Police Department that addresses drugs, violence, bullying, internet safety and other high risk circumstances.

Working with the sixth-grade class in the S.T.A.R.T. program was Officer Chad Thorpe from the St. Charles County Police Department. Also on hand for the ceremony was Sergeant Kurt Hey from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

Sixth-grade student Ella Lause was an essay winner, which she read to the crowd of parents, some staff members and some fourth- and fifth-grade students.

Each student received a S.T.A.R.T. certificate and T-shirt for completing the program.

Pictures from the S.T.A.R.T. graduation at Augusta Elementary are below.
