Nominations are being accepted for the School District of Washington and WINGS Support Staff of the Year.

The candidate must be a non-certified employee of the School District of Washington. Examples include, but are not limited to, paraprofessionals, technology staff, custodians, buildings and grounds, maintenance, administrative assistants, food service, and nurses.

Anyone may submit a nomination for the School District of Washington and WINGS Support Staff of the Year; however, if it’s someone other than the building principal or supervisor, a letter of support from the principal or supervisor is to be included with the nomination.

The principal and/or person submitting the nomination must include a statement in 300 words or less why they believe the support staff they are nominating should be selected.

Specific examples should be cited, such as how the individual goes the extra mile to positively impact the school and environment. Include the individual’s name, school or building, present position, years of experience in the School District of Washington, responsibilities and duties and examples of how the individual has mastered their job responsibilities.

Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer and a committee will review the nominations and submit up to 10 to the WINGS Board for final selection. The recipient will be announced at the staff closing ceremony.

The timeline on the attached flyer is not accurate for this year, but will be accurate in years to follow.

The nomination form is attached below. Please turn it in to the individual’s building principal or supervisor by May 9.

Click on the attached links below for a flyer detailing more information and a specific timeline (not accurate for this year, but for future years), as well as a School District of Washington and WINGS Support Staff nomination form.

As part of the Title I, Title III and Title IV program federal mandates, the School District of Washington is required to have a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) who assists in the development and evaluation of the Title programs.

These programs are designed to help students achieve success in reading and math, to assist students in becoming proficient in speaking English, and to provide well-rounded education to unique groups of students.

The committee will be made up of parent representatives from throughout the District.

The PAC also will include representatives from our teachers, administrators, specialized instructional support personnel, local government, and community based organizations.

The Spring TI & III-PAC meeting for the 2017-18 school year will be held on Tuesday, May 8, from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at the Technology and Learning Center, 4245 Highway 47, Washington, MO. We will be planning for the 2018-2019 school year.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by calling Chris Marquart at the district office at 636-231-2005 or emailing at chris.marquart@washington.k12.mo.us

Your consideration of being part of this committee is greatly appreciated as parents are the greatest single indicator of a student's success in school.
